The Dayton Area Board of REALTORS® (DABR) lent their support to troops serving across the globe on August 2, assisting the Blue Star Mothers Dayton chapter to prepare care packages for deployed servicemen and women. It’s just one of the ways REALTORS® give back to the Dayton community.
“Community service is a core value of REALTORS®,” stated Mike Martin, president of DABR. “REALTORS® have been working across this country for more than 100 years to build communities and advocate for private property rights, and none of that would be possible without the brave men and women who defend our freedom. We are honored to partner with the Blue Star Mothers.”
The Blue Star Mothers Dayton Chapter is a non-profit organization that provides support for active duty service personnel, promotes patriotism, and assists veteran organizations. They have mailed over 15,000 care packages to troops all over the world in their twelve years of operation.
Tammy Murphy, president of Blue Star Mothers and a REALTOR® stated: “I am thrilled to share the opportunity to match two great organizations together. We feel the pride in our communities we serve, and being able to represent our own military community in such a way by preparing care packages provides yet another level to our outreach.”
As members of the community, REALTORS® take part in a number of community initiatives throughout the year, from volunteering with Rebuilding Together to rehab homes, to donating money and materials to Dayton area schools and credit counseling services. DABR’s Foundation provides scholarships to dependents of REALTORS®, and their annual holiday reception serves as Dayton’s largest source of donated toys to the Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots.
